Robin Hamilton

Born in Windsor and growing up by the Dorset coast in southern England before moving to the world heritage city of Bath, I gained experience as a Lecturer, Manager and Teacher Trainer in a quartet of UK colleges before moving to New Zealand and later to Singapore, where I am now a Permanent Resident.

While in South East Asia  I have taught in an elite boys’ school and also at the prestigious School of the Arts in Singapore, as well as being variously Head, Director of Studies, Principal or CEO at various international schools in Singapore, Burma, Malaysia, Thailand and now here in Cambodia.

A main achievement has been enabling schools to gain Cambridge International school status, and that is what I hope to achieve here as well. I can speak a little Thai and Malay – perhaps I will be able to learn a little Khmer too!

Joe Horowitz
Head of Cambridge International & EAL

Hi there, I’m the coordinator for the international program, I also teach IGCSE English, Math and Business Studies.

Born in London, UK, I finished school with A-Levels in English, Maths and Art, and went on to study Fine Art at the University of Plymouth. After many years working in the service industry as a manager of bars and restaurants, I decided to change careers and retrained as a teacher, attaining a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching. I’ve been in Cambodia for seven years now, and have worked at this school for all seven of those years!

I’ve seen the school go through many changes in that time, but the transformation into a Cambridge International school is the most exciting yet – it means we can now offer real qualifications, accepted by major universities all over the world.

My philosophy of teaching is ‘make it effective, make it fun’, because I believe (in fact I know!) that children learn much better when they are happy and enjoying themselves.

Will Barnard
Head of English and Humanities

Hello I’m Will and I’m excited to be teaching English at Grand Mount starting this year. I hold a BA in Modern History and Politics from the University of Leicester and several coaching, teaching and psychology diplomas.

Before getting into teaching I have had several careers, including with FTSE 100 companies in the UK to starting and running my own video production company and most recently leading community based youth expeditions all over the world.

I love helping people succeed and I can’t wait to bring this enthusiasm of learning to students of all ages here at Grand Mount.

Simon Lapage
Teacher of English and Humanities

Hello, I am happy to be a new addition to the team here at GMIS. Although I have only been here for a short time, I believe I am working alongside some great teachers who have the best interest of the students at heart. I am excited to help develop the students into hard-working, confident, ambitious adults with a passion to achieve their greatest potential.

I was born in Lincoln before moving to Oxford where I was raised and educated. I went to Oxford College of Further Education where I undertook an Art and Design course. After graduating, I led a varied work life ranging from film processing in Lythographic Arts film studio to investing in several successful business ventures. I have been teaching for over 5 years now and I have grown to understand the importance of creating an environment which is conducive to learning to allow student growth

Mrs Divina Kennedy
Head of Early Years

I am from the Philippines. I am a graduate of Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education Major in English.

Before coming to Cambodia I taught in an NGO in the Philippines and became the Headteacher. I also taught university students in an NGO in Battambang province before coming to Phnom Penh.

I have been teaching in this school since 2010. I have taught different programmess and levels since I started working here. With these experiences I have adapted different ways to teach which helped me to improve and develop my teaching methods and styles

Teaching is my passion because I believe that education changes a person’s whole being and you become a part of that (hoping they will all be successful). It makes you become proud of what your students’ have achieved (present or in the future) that’s why I see to it that learning takes place whenever I teach.

Miss Princella Anum
Head of Maths, Science and ICT

Hello there, I am Princella from Karachi, Pakistan. I graduated from St. Joseph’s College for Women with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.

I have travelled to different South-East Asian countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Burma, and the Maldives but settled in Cambodia with my family. We opened our own Pakistani restaurant, in 2017. I also practice the ancient art form of Henna Design, as well as painting and now I’m excited to teach these skills to my students.

I became a teacher for a very simple (albeit perhaps somewhat cliché) reason – I want to make a difference. While there are many fields in which I could accomplish this goal, I feel that education is the one in which I can have the greatest impact.

Teacher of Mathematics

Hi, I’m Kimberly from the Philippines. I hold a degree of Bachelor of Education Major in Mathematics at Saint Louis University- School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts and I have recently obtained my license as professional teacher earlier this year.

I have taught ESL, mostly in the past years so now I’m excited to teach Mathematics to all ESL levels here at Grand Mount International School.

My eagerness to influence and make a difference in someone’s life brought me to this profession and I’m excited to bring this to Grand Mount.

I love teaching and I love my students!

Ms Amefil Antero-Tacio
Teacher of ICT

Hello, I’m Amefil, a Filipino citizen hailing from the northern part of the Philippines, Baguio City. I finished Bachelor of Science in Nursing and I was a hospital nurse for some time but due to unfavorable circumstances I shifted to teaching, which I eventually learn to love.

Before coming to Cambodia, I used to be an ESL tutor to Korean, Chinese and Japanese students in our locality. That’s where my teaching career began.

I am very excited to be a part of the GMIS team. This will be a place where I can continue to help students learn in a fun, creative and safe environment to contribute to their holistic growth and well being.

Mr Meang Khoek Chhou
Teacher of Chinese

Hello, I am Chhou. I am from Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I am a Chinese teacher teaching students from IC programmes at Grand Mount International School. I have been learning Chinese for approximately 7 years since I was a kid, while I decided to spend another 3 years claiming another Intensive Chinese Program certificate from Beijing International Academy in 2016. Now, I am currently a university student pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance.

I have been a Chinese teacher in many different schools in Phnom Penh, and have been teaching for around 2 years before I joined GMIS. I have also been a private tutor teaching both English and Chinese to high school students. Also, I have spent a great deal of time translating official and other documents for friends.

I am absolutely delighted to be a part of the Grand Mount International School because I am given a wonderful opportunity to share my good learning experiences with all the kids and help them become successful and effective learners. I have gained a thorough understanding of Chinese language and culture after long-time learning with native Chinese lecturers; hence, I believe it is time for me to pass my knowledge to other students. I really adore teaching children because education is the most essential element and crucial factor to help all the kids become human resources for the society.

I feel enthusiastic to build pathways for students to explore their strengths and weaknesses so that they can eventually become who they really are. I will try my best to create an exciting and awesome learning environment for the kids, leading them to the success they are seeking. I will be working hard together with my students in order to turn GMIS into the best international school in Cambodia.

Miss Sieng Sokny
Teacher of Early Years and English

Hello, I’m Sokny. I was born in Kandal province. I am studying Bachelor’s degree at Western University of English department. Before teaching here I was an English teacher at Oudong International School for one year. And I also worked at EPHAC in laboratory as an experimenter for 1 year too.

I have been working here for 6 years, since this school was Arizon and upgraded to Grand Mount International School.

I love teaching because it is my wish since I was young. And I also enjoyed working with children and nice people here. I am very proud to have a great opportunity to work here and I strongly believe that GMIS will become the best school in Cambodia.

Miss Meas Chanleakhena
Teacher of Early Years and English

I am leakhena, I was born in Phnom Penh. I have completed a Bachelor’s Degree of English and Art (TEFL) at Western University and Cam TESOL.

I worked as a Kindergarten teacher 2 years at Sovannaphumi School. And I have been teaching at Grandmount International School as a kindergarten teacher for 7 years.

I love teaching kindergarten! My mission as a teacher to help children discover the joy of learning and to help each child develop a strong belief in his or her own ability to achieve.

I am really excited to work at GMIS. I love my school, my students, and my colleagues. I strongly believe that I will try to make my school more successful and try to improve my students to be good Human Resources.

Ms Noemi Mina
Teacher of Early Years and English

Hi! I was born and raised in the Philippines and am a degree holder in B.S. in Computer Technology.

I have been working here as a teacher here in Cambodia since 2015. Teaching from young ones to teenagers have taught me a lot of things. One of them is being passionate. Caring for my students has given me joy and hope that they will be successful and I have been part of it.

Being able to teach has also been a great experience for me. While teaching, I discovered that I can be a friend, a mother and a person that my students can talk to. And I believe that “hardship they will receive today, success they will gain tomorrow”.

Ear Mama
Teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL)

I am Mama, an EAL 1 teacher. I have completed a Master’s Degree of Art in English from Norton University.

Before working at GMIS, I was a primary school teacher at American School for one year. I also worked at Hello American School as a part-time teacher.

I love teaching, and I love GMIS. I have been working here since 2010. I’ve learned many things from my work and my colleagues. Also, children here are lovely and friendly. I love them and I want to provide them with an excellent learning to help them to improve their English abilities.

I am having a wonderful opportunity to teach Cambridge Curriculum to my students this year. This is a good change for my students. I will try my best to help them to develop their learning and to have the best quality of learning.

Ms Krista Maravilla
Teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Hi there, I’m Krista from Philippines. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts majoring in English. I am proud to call Grand Mount International School my new home. I have been teaching for 5 years and I have always enjoyed helping others especially young learners to learn and grow.

For me, teaching encompasses far more than passing information from teachers to students. Teachers should be illuminators who provide their students not only with interesting and useful material, but also with the visions of where they might end up if they learn well.

Rita Pierson once said that every child deserves a champion- an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they can possibly be

Mrs Oum Sovanny
Teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Hi, I’m Sovanny. I was born in Phnom Penh. I have completed a Bachelor of Art in Professional Communication Skills from the Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL) and Cam TESOL from NYIS.

Working with children is my passion. I completed volunteer work at an NGO and English private schools before starting a career as a teacher here, where I have been for 8 years as an elementary teacher which gives basic skills to students. From these experiences, I have gained many skills as well as knowledge and methods that make my students focus on my lesson effectively.

I hope that I will continue my teaching career with a new experience with the Cambridge International Curriculum which sets a global standard for education. I strongly believe this curriculum has clear objectives and will be progressive and fun – . I love to have fun with my teaching, and I am sure my students will enjoy my teaching too.

Miss Jhea Mae Dela Cruz
Exams Officer and Teacher of Science

Hello! I am JM and was born in the Philippines. I Acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Major in Marketing Management with Honors, and then worked as a Technical Support Representative as my first job. I was able to teach primary level and pre-kindergarten students from my previous schools which led me to become a Secondary English Language teacher here in Phnom Penh.

At first, I found it difficult teaching here because of the language barrier, but getting to know the students every day and sharing all my knowledge with them has made me feel enthusiastic about their learning. I started to understand and realize that I can also learn from them and it improves my personality, making me a better person each day. I can’t wait to be a Teacher of Science to my students this year!

I also love dancing and arts which I can also share with my students.

Miss Cherry Honey Oquias
Teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL)

As I pursue my teaching career, I always bring my teaching philosophy that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential.

Ms Alex Bracamonte
Teacher of English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Greetings, I am Alexandria M. Bracamonte. Born and raised in the Philippines. I took up Bachelor in Secondary Education, I graduated my bachelor’s degree (Class of 2019) at Northwestern Visayan Colleges Kalibo Aklan Philippines. I will do my best to help young people and I am very excited to meet my future students.
A great philosopher once said, it takes a village to raise a child.
God bless!

Ek Virak
School Administrator (IC and EAL)

I was born and raised in Sihanouk Province, but then I moved to Phnom Penh for higher education. I graduated from one of the top Universities in Phnom Penh, which is the Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL), and my major is the Bachelor of Education. I will be taking the Master Degree of Education soon before the end of 2019.

I have been working in GMIS for a few years now, and I love my job as a teacher because I enjoy spending my time with the children and teaching them about what I have learned as well as interacting with them. I also try to follow any upgrades in our school curriculum and try my best to make it work in my class for a better result.

Sorn Romphoeuy
School Administrator (NC)

Hello, I am Sorn Romphoeuy or you can call me Tina. I am a school Administrator at GMIS.

I was born in Phnom Penh and have worked at GMIS for 10 years. Before becoming a School Administrator, I was a Teacher Assistant for 6 years and Year 1 Khmer teacher for a year, and then Front Office Supervisor for 2 years. During this period I completed level 12 of the General English Programme ( GEP ), and also studied TESOL for Children at the Pedagogy and Vocational Training School of Phnom Penh and completed a course at The Royal School of Graduate and Technical School of Phnom Penh.

I am happy working at GMIS, watching all the students growing up and developing their Knowledge.
